Every year we are honoured by a visit from the Chernobyl Children’s Life Line charity. The charity provides respite holidays to children from Belarus affected by the aftermath of the Chernobyl Nuclear Disaster.

We provide the children with a talk through a translator and some time with our main telescope.

As someone who has been involved with this regularly in recent years I can say what a pleasure it is to host the evening. Both the organisers and the children are an absolute delight.

Every year we are given a small gift as a thank you from the group which we keep at the observatory and this year we have also received a lovely ‘thank you’ card which I have added below.

I hope this annual event continues long into the future; the CCLL will always be welcome back. The work they do for children from Belarus is a credit to the local community.

Thanks from the CCLL
